With a strong legacy, Walsh & Monaghan has achieved exponential growth over the past few years and whilst historically managed by its Directors, the company has now reached a size and complexity that it requires the appointment of an experienced Business Manager.

Delivering broad and varied valuation services including significant government contracts as well as complex and technical, commercial services across New South Wales, the team works from multiple office locations including Wollongong, the Southern Highlands, Nowra and Bega on the Far South Coast.

Team dynamics

A Director group of five highly experienced valuers work side by side with the valuation and administration teams. With extensive valuation experience in the business and the day-to-day finance and administrative tasks managed by a competent and long-standing admin team, the strategy of appointing a Business Manager is to bring senior management leadership and expertise to the business.

A day in the life of

Executing strategic direction set collaboratively with Directors, the Business Manager will manage day-to-day operations of the business, whilst driving the delivery of the company’s goals.

Day to day business management will be broad and varied from business planning and execution to financial analysis, people management and operations. Of critical importance will be the presence of the Business Manager in all four regional office locations, ensuring cohesiveness, efficiency and engagement. 

With overarching goals of productivity, growth and succession planning, the Business Manager will work with Directors and external specialists to drive and deliver the following significant projects.

  • Design, development and roll out of a new valuation database
  • Further development of human resource management strategies to grow, develop, retain and attract employees
  • Continued execution of marketing strategies to meet branding and company financial goals
  • Tender management for significant valuation contracts

What we’re looking for

The team at Walsh and Monaghan are known for their culture; with character in spades, a love of laughter and humour is a must. The cultural fit of the Business Manager is just as important as the skills and expertise that they bring.

It is envisaged that the Business Manager be suitably qualified, with a proven history and track record of leading and growing small to medium businesses. Additional expertise of working in larger corporates with a deep understanding of the nuances between metro and regional business will be regarded highly.
